Contact Body
WHAT IS CONTACT IMPROVISATION?
Contact Improvisation is a dance form exploring a physical point of contact with another person, staying open to new possibilities in the dance while honoring the physical laws that govern movement: gravity, inertia, mass, and momentum. It's also a social dance form, emphasizing community, reflection, playfulness and embodiment.
This is the first and only fully online Contact Improvisation course.
Based off of our in-person Momentum Contact Workshop taught 25+ times in Bali to hundreds of new contact dancers, we created an online version!
Contact Body launched in 2020 during the pandemic, and has sold to 100+ dancers, including those in lockdown countries, dance instructors and academics.
In CONTACT BODY we explore the foundational practices relative to Contact, including mindfulness techniques, somatic exercises, creative improvisation, contemporary floor work and Contact partnerwork combinations.
Contact Body is split into two courses (Of course, you can take them both)!
In SOLO BODY (10 Lessons) we move what's in you. We cover the foundational pathways of movement that translate into Contact. These are the primary movements that are inherant in our bodies. We cover Bartenieff Fundamentals, Contemporary Floorwork, Falling, The Small Dance, Creative Improvising, Somatic Exercises and more.
In TWO BODIES (12 Lessons) we move with another body. We cover Contact Improvisation Partnerwork Foundations, ie. "how to meet together in a dance" through principles such as weight sharing, counterbalance, surfing, table and basic contact lifts.
Want it all? Purchase both courses, as CONTACT BODY and save 10%.
Lessons are self-paced and instant access, for you to learn and practice online at home.
